How to Summarize PDF
Reading long PDF documents can be time-consuming and tiring. Whether it's a research report, legal paper, or business document, going through pages of text isn't always practical. Fortunately, Tenorshare PDNob PDF Editor provides smart summarization options to help you focus only on the important points. Here's how you can use it to summarize full PDFs, selected sections, specific pages, and even scanned PDFs.
1. Summarize Entire PDF Document
Tenorshare PDNob PDF Editor lets you quickly generate summaries for entire PDFs or specific sections, helping you save time and understand content faster.

Launch Tenorshare PDNob PDF Editor and Open the File
Open Tenorshare PDNob on your computer, click on "PDNob AI", and select the PDF you want to summarize. Then select the option "Start".

Generate the Summary
Tenorshare PDNob will scan the entire document and display a summarized version in the side panel. You can copy it or export it as a separate text file.
2. Summarize Specific Pages
If you want to extract summaries from only certain pages, follow these steps:

Open the PDF in Tenorshare PDNob PDF Editor
Load the document as usual.

Go to AI Assistant > Summarize by Page Range
Click the AI Assistant, give the prompt like Summarize Page 1 or enter the page range (e.g., 5--10).

Review the Result
Once the AI processes your request, the summary of selected pages will appear in the right panel.
3. Summarize Selected Text
Sometimes you don't need a summary of the entire document, just a specific paragraph or section.

Select Text
While in reading mode, highlight the paragraph or sentences you want to summarize.

Use the Right-Click Menu
Right-click and choose AI from the context menu, and click summarize.

View the Summary
A floating box will appear showing a short summary of the selected content. You can copy it or add it as a comment.
4. Use Prompts to Summarize
You can also manually ask questions or give instructions to the AI.

Open Ask Mode
Go to the AI Assistant tab and open "Ask Mode".

Paste the Text and Type a Prompt
Copy the desired content, paste it in the prompt box, and type something like:
"Summarize this section".
"List the key points from this paragraph".
"Explain the methodology".

Get Your Custom Summary
Click Send, and the AI will return a focused summary based on your prompt.
5. Summarize Scanned PDFs
Tenorshare PDNob PDF Editor supports summarizing scanned documents using its OCR (Optical Character Recognition) tool.

Run OCR on the PDF
Open the scanned PDF and click "OCR" from the top toolbar. You can see the scan option and perform the OCR.

Save and Reopen the Editable File
After the OCR process, the PDF becomes searchable and editable.

Now you can use any of the methods mentioned above to summarize the editable content.
