How to Summarize PDF

Reading long PDF documents can be time-consuming. Whether it's a research report, legal paper, or business document, going through pages of text isn't always practical. Tenorshare PDNob PDF Editor provides smart summarization tools to help you focus on key points. You can summarize full PDFs, selected sections, specific pages, and even scanned PDFs.

1. Summarize Entire PDF Document

Tenorshare PDNob PDF Editor can quickly generate summaries for entire PDFs, helping you save time and grasp content efficiently.

• Launch PDNob PDF Editor and Open the File

  Open PDNob on your computer, click "Ask AI", select the PDF, and click "Start".

• Generate the Summary

  PDNob scans the entire document and displays a summary in the side panel. You can copy it or export it as a text file.

2. Summarize Specific Pages

To summarize only certain pages, follow these steps:

• Open the PDF

  Load the document in PDNob as usual.

• Go to AI Assistant > Summarize by Page Range

  Click AI Assistant and enter a page range, e.g., 5–10, or type "Summarize Page 1".

• Review the Result

  The summary of selected pages appears in the right panel.

3. Summarize Selected Text

Highlight and summarize only specific paragraphs or sentences.

• Select Text

  Highlight the paragraph or sentences you want summarized.

• Use Right-Click Menu

  Right-click, choose Ask AI, and click Explain.

• View the Summary

  An AI chat box shows a concise summary. Copy it or add it as a note.

4. Use Prompts to Summarize

Ask the AI specific questions or instructions to generate custom summaries.

• Open Ask Mode

  Go to AI Assistant > "Ask Mode".

• Paste Text and Type Prompt

  Paste content and type prompts such as:

  • "Summarize this section"
  • "List the key points from this paragraph"
  • "Explain the methodology"

• Get Custom Summary

  Click Send, and the AI returns a summary based on your prompt.

5. Summarize Scanned PDFs

Use OCR to make scanned PDFs editable and then summarize them.

• Run OCR

  Click "OCR PDF", and perform the recognition.

• Save and Reopen

  After OCR, the PDF becomes searchable and editable.

• Summarize with AI Assistant

  Use any method above to generate summaries from the editable content.
