How to Use Guides in PixPretty
Guides are horizontal or vertical visual lines on the canvas that provide precise reference points for your edits.
Key Benefits
- Structural Alignment: Helps adjust facial symmetry and maintain standard proportions (such as the “rule of thirds” and facial balance).
- Precise Composition: Marks key reference points in real time, ensuring your edits stay aligned along consistent horizontal or vertical axes.
Use Cases
- Symmetry Adjustment: Correct facial asymmetries such as uneven eyebrows, mismatched eye sizes, or a crooked smile.
- Proportion Refinement: During liquify edits, ensure facial features and body lines stay properly aligned and proportioned.
- Background Straightening: Check whether horizons and architectural lines in the background are perfectly horizontal or vertical.
Step1Create Guides
Click the “Guides” button in the top-left corner. From the dropdown menu, choose “Add Horizontal Guide” (shortcut: R) or “Add Vertical Guide” (shortcut: Cmd + R (Mac) / Ctrl + R (Windows)).
You can add as many guides as needed based on your composition.
Step2Move & Position
After creating a guide, simply drag it on the canvas to adjust its position.
Step3Show / Hide Manually
Want a distraction-free preview? Click the “Guides” button and select “Hide Guides” (shortcut: Shift + R) to instantly clear them from view. Repeat the same action to show them again.
Step4Delete Guides
Right-click on a guide and select “Delete Guide” to remove a single one, or choose “Delete All Guides” to clear them all at once.
Step5Auto-Hide Behavior
To improve your viewing experience, guides will be automatically hidden and temporarily disabled in the following scenarios:
- View Switching: When entering Compare View or Reference View
- Crop Mode: When entering crop mode
