Curves
Curves is a powerful tool for fine-tuning brightness, contrast, and color balance in an image. It allows you to freely add, move, or remove control points to precisely adjust pixels across different tonal ranges. This enables you to shape subtle light and shadow details, enhance color richness, and achieve a fully optimized visual result.
Parametric Curves
If manually adjusting curves feels too complex, Parametric Curves offer a simpler alternative. You can easily adjust four tonal regions—Highlights, Lights, Darks, and Shadows—using sliders:
- Highlight: Controls the brightness and contrast of the brightest areas. Higher values make highlights brighter and more pronounced, while lower values soften them.
- Light: Adjusts the bright areas just below the highlights. Increasing the value enhances detail in brighter regions, while decreasing it creates a more subdued look.
- Dark Tones: Controls the darker areas that are not completely black. Higher values reveal more detail, while lower values add depth and richness.
- Shadow: Controls the deepest dark areas of the image. Increasing the value brings out shadow details, while decreasing it makes shadows deeper and increases overall contrast.
Channel Curves
Channel Curves provide more advanced control over both color and tonal adjustments in your image:
- RGB Curve: Adjusts the overall brightness and contrast of the image without modifying individual color channels separately.
- Luminance Curve: Adjusts only the brightness of the image, without affecting hue or saturation. Ideal for refining light and shadow while preserving original colors.
- Red/Green/Blue Channel Curves: Allow you to adjust the tonal mapping of each color channel independently. Useful for precise color correction, fine-tuning specific color tones, or creating stylized effects.
Curve Eyedropper
The Curve Eyedropper can be used across any channel, allowing you to adjust curves without manually editing control points. Simply click or drag over the area in the image that you want to adjust, and the software will automatically identify and modify the corresponding curve. This makes the process more intuitive and efficient.
