How to Take a Screenshot on PC (Windows & Mac)

It is possible to take a screenshot on laptop or PC. And there are a great number of easy ways to do that. You can capture the whole screen or a part of screen, and send it to whoever you want or save it in your favorites folder. Part 1: How to Screenshot on PC
If you are a Windows PC user and want to know how you may take a screenshot on Windows 10/11 or older versions, then you have come to the right place. There are a couple different ways of taking a screenshot on PC, all of which will be explored below.
1. Print Screen on Windows with Keyboard

2. Use Snipping Tool
Windows provides a dedicated application for taking screenshot on PC that goes by the name of Snipping Tool. And Microsoft Windows has been saying that this app will be replaced by Snip & Sketch, which you can try now. Nevertheless, we can use this app to take a screenshot on laptop whenever we want.
- Search for Snipping Tool in the search bar and open it.
Click on New to take a screenshot. Default setting is rectangular snip in which you can capture a desired area of the screen. Other modes include free form snips, window snips and full screen snips.
You can click on Try Snip & Sketch to use the new version of screenshot on PC. It can also be done by pressing Windows + Shift + S keys.

3. Use Game Bar
While playing a game, you may want to take a screenshot or recording, Game Bar on Windows PC provides gamers this feature. You can take a screenshot, screen record and see your GPU performance. To take a screenshot on PC here with Game Bar:
First, enable Game Bar feature on Settings.
- To open Game Bar, you can press the Windows + G key.
Now in the top left corner, you see a camera button that takes screenshot. You may also take a screenshot by pressing Windows + Alt + PrtScr key.
- This captures the entire screen and a notification on the right says screenshot captured.
Part 2: How to Take Screenshot on Mac
It is a common talk that users of iPhone and Mac have different ways to do things as Android and Windows users do, but there are also generally similar features. Screenshots is a basic feature and Apple Inc provides its users with a handy tool like this. We have introduced iPhone screenshots before, and now to screenshot on Mac:
1. Keyboard Shortcuts
Like Windows PC, Mac also utilizes keyboard shortcuts to take screenshot on Mac. Different keyboard keys combinations take different forms of screenshot on Mac. All of these involve Shift + Command Key + Number Keys.
- Shift + Command + 3: Screenshot the entire screen
- Shift + Command + 4: Capture a part of screen you want
- Shift + Command + 5: Open Screenshot (we will introduce it in the second method.)
- Shift + Command + 6: Capture the touch bar.
These screenshots on Mac are saved to Apple logo > System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts. If you want to directly copy and paste the screenshot to somewhere, press the Control key with the other 3 keys to copy it.
2. Screenshot
Mac also has a screenshot app that can be used to take a screenshot on Mac. This app is just like the snipping tool app on Windows, providing different choices for you to capture and record the screen.
- To open Screenshot, press Shift + Command + 5.
There will come a bar with several options. The left three are for taking different forms of screenshots. Select the mode and click on Capture to take the screenshot.
3. Touch Bar
Although not all the Macbooks have the touch bar option, but it has a very handy list of shortcuts that can make your life easier. Among these, a shortcut of Screenshot is present. To take a screenshot on Mac with touch bar:
First add the screenshot menu to the Touch Bar: go to System preferences > Keyboard, click on Customize Control Strip. Drag the screenshot icon to the Touch Bar. Done.
- Tap the Screenshot button on the touch bar. It looks like the little camera.

Part 3: How to Take Android Screenshot on PC & Mac
