Guide for Recovering Android Text Messages

Deleted important messages on Android phone mistakenly? Messages disappear after ROM flashing or factory reset? Tenorshare Android Data Recovery offers you an easy solution to get back lost or deleted Messages.

Firstly, download and install Tenorshare Android Data Recovery on your computer. Follow the steps below to start recovering messages.

Step 1: Connect Android Device

Connect your Android device via USB cable. We suggest you use the USB cable that came with purchase.

Step 2: Enable USB Storage

If you still stay at the first interface without changing, click "Find your device" and then "Connect".

For Mac: For Android 2.3 or earlier -> Pull down Notifications -> Select "USB connected" -> Tap "Turn on USB storage".

Tap "OK" on your device when a window will pop up. And click "Have tapped OK button in your device" on the software interface.

For Mac: For Android 4.0 -> Enter "Settings" -> Click "Wireless and Network" -> Click "USB utilities" -> Click "Connect Storage to PC" -> Click "Turn on USB Storage".

Note: USB Mass Storage was removed several Android versions ago. You can skip this step if your phone does not provide this setting.

Step 3: Enable USB Debugging

Then you need to enable USB debugging on your Android device. The steps vary on different Android versions. If you cannot find the USB debugging option after following the steps, please check the phone manual.

If you haven't installed USB driver for your Android device, this software will automatically install it for you. If it fails, follow this article to download and install Android USB driver manually.

Step 4: Obtain SuperUser Authorization

After your device is detected, click "Allow" when an app Superuser Request pops up on your device's screen to allow the program super user authorization. Then click "Start" on the software screen.

Choose the “Message” to start scanning.

For Mac, when you choose your recovery mode:Quickly Recovery or Deep Recovery, you can specify the file type like “Message” to start scanning.

After that, you need to wait for several minutes for requesting superuser authorization of your device.

Step 5: Preview Messages on Android Device

When the scanning is completed, you will see that all messages (existing and deleted) are listed. You can preview details with name, time & date and contents.

Step 6: Recover and Save the Messages

Tick the text messages you need, and click "Recover" to recover and save them on your PC. Usually the messages are saved in .txt, .xml, .xls.
