Guide for Recovering Android Contacts

Firstly, download and install Tenorshare Android Data Recovery on your computer.

Step 1: Connect Android Device

Launch Tenorshare Android Data Recovery, you will get the interface like below. Connect your Android device via USB cable that came with purchase.

Step 2: Enable USB Storage

If you still stay at the first interface without changing, click "Find your device" and then "Connect".

For Mac: For Android 2.3 or earlier -> Pull down Notifications -> Select "USB connected" -> Tap "Turn on USB storage".

Tap "OK" on your device when a window will pop up. And click "Have tapped OK button in your device" on the software interface.

For Mac: For Android 4.0 -> Enter "Settings" -> Click "Wireless and Network" -> Click "USB utilities" -> Click "Connect Storage to PC" -> Click "Turn on USB Storage".

USB Mass Storage was removed several Android versions ago. You can skip this step if your phone does not provide this setting.

Step 3: Enable USB Debugging

Enable USB debugging to make your device detected by Android Data Recovery.

If you haven't installed USB driver for your Android device, this software will automatically install it for you. If it fails, follow this article to download and install Android USB driver manually.

Step 4: Start Scanning

After your device is detected, click "Allow" when an app Superuser Request pops up on your device's screen to allow the program super user authorization. Then click "Start" on the software screen.

Choose the “Contacts” when the "All File Types" pops up. Then click on "Next".

For Mac, you need to specify the recovery mode first: Quick Recovery/Deep Recovery.

After that, you need to wait for several minutes for requesting superuser authorization of your device.

Step 5: Preview Contacts on Android Device

After scanning finished, you can preview your contacts with name and phone numbers. Tick the option “Only display the deleted items” will display only lost Contacts.

Step 6: Recover and Save the Contacts

Tick the contacts you need, and click "Recover" to recover and save them on your PC. The contacts are saved in .txt, .xml, .xls.
